St. Joseph School offers a faith-centered education, fostering growth in children's personal faith journeys. We aim to establish a solid foundation for our students, grounded in the values of respect, selflessness, acceptance, and embodying the principle that God is love. Our community is a place with heart in which we act through love and kindness to support one another.
There are many ways that St. Joseph School incorporates our Catholic faith into our traditions and celebrations.
Our students are actively encouraged to participate in our school-wide Masses, which they thoroughly enjoy. They serve as lectors and altar servers, prepare the altar, and present the gifts. These roles teach them that they can serve the Lord and contribute to the Mass celebration, regardless of their age.
As we enter the month of October, we are reminded of the special devotion to the Holy Rosary. This is a time for us to come together as a community of faith, united in prayer and reflection. This prayer session is a moment for us to seek the intercession of our Blessed Mother, deepen our spiritual lives, and strengthen our bonds with one another.
During the Christmas season, St. Joseph School hosts a heartwarming Lessons and Carols event bringing the story of Jesus' birth to life through the talents of our students and alumni. Students from Kindergarten through 6th grade take on the roles of readers and actors. They narrate the nativity story, enacting scenes, making the biblical accounts vivid and engaging. The students lead the audience in singing beloved carols, creating an atmosphere of joy and reverence.
The Feast of St. Joseph is a cherished celebration at our school, honoring the patron saint who exemplifies faith, dedication, and compassion. This special day brings together our entire school community in a series of meaningful activities and traditions.
The St. Joseph School Stations of the Cross is a profound and reflective practice at our school, observed during the Lenten season. This solemn event brings students, faculty, and families together to walk the path of Jesus' Passion, fostering a deeper understanding of His sacrifice and love.
The May Crowning is a beloved tradition at our school, celebrating the special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. This beautiful ceremony, held annually in May, honors Mary as the Queen of Heaven and Earth, bringing our community together. The event begins with a student led procession and is accompanied by the singing of Marian hymns and followed by prayers and readings that highlight Mary's virtues and role in the Church.
St. Joseph School is truly a place with heart! Whether our students are donating canned goods to Penfield HOPE, collecting winter clothing items for local veterans, participating in CYO basketball, or working together in a Robotics Team competition, we always bring heart! Our students, faculty, staff, and families come together to create an environment full of faith, love, and kindness.
