One could say that teaching is part of Grace Tischer's DNA. Her earliest memory of teaching is as a 5 year old with Barbie dolls as students. As she recalls, they were the best ever captive audience!
Mrs. Tischer graduated from Nazareth College and SUNY Brockport to prepare for a career in education. The Diocese of Rochester has been her home from the very start of her career, having taught in three schools: Mother of Sorrows, St. Ambrose, and St. Joseph as both a 5th and 6th grade teacher.
She has the greatest family with whom she enjoys the best of life. Husband Jim is wonderfully supportive not only as spouse, but as the husband of a teacher. He has spent many hours in classrooms painting, drilling, hanging, and repairing. He estimates he has carried at least a “ton” of bags and boxes to classrooms over the years. As proud mother of two wonderful daughters who are both married and live close by in Penfield, she is grandma to Livvy and Michael, her precious grandchildren with a 3rd on the way!
Something you would not guess about Mrs. Tischer is that she is basically a shy person and the quietest in her family! She loves TV reality shows, and shopping!!
